I know what you’re thinking… why would you bother spending time to make your own? Great question! For me I use a lot of peanut butter and even though I keep the containers/jars to re-use my stash has been getting out of control. So in an effort to further reduce my impact on the environment I now make my own. It’s super simple and tastes delicious.
Homemade Peanut Butter
Print RecipeIngredients
- 2 jars dry roasted peanuts*
- 1 tbs maple syrup
- Himalayan salt
Instructions
See notes for where to fill jar to achieve 1 full jar nut butter.
If nuts need to be dry roasted, then pre-heat oven to 150C or 300F. Ensure no skins on peanuts and spread out on a tray. Put in oven for 5-8mins. Once they start to smell delicious remove from oven.
Add nuts to high speed blender and blitz until smooth and oil starts to form on top (5-10 mins in my Ninja system).
To achieve the ultimate silky smooth and spreadable texture, let sit for 2 hours.
Blitz again for another few minutes until desired texture is achieved (about 3 mins in my Ninja system).
Add maple syrup and salt for desired taste.
Store in an air tight jar.
Notes
*The jar you use to measure nut quantity should be the jar you intend fill with the nut butter. This is because 2 jars full (up to the bottom of the lid line) of nuts = 1 jar of nut butter.
